Prints Rhyming Anthology...

Okay, here's the deal. We would like to create an anthology stuffed with poems for readers of five to twelve.
And when we say stuffed... we mean stuffed.
There will be one poem for every day of the year, divided into fifty-two themes, so every week has a theme.
HERE is a list of themes, and this is the selection process (please do read that) and HERE is the preferred format for mss.
PRINTS RHYMING IS GOING TO PRESS!
Before we get to these, please consider the following.
1.Most poems will have to fit on a page the size of a trade novel page. (Otherwise the thing will look like War and Peace.) That's about 24 lines. See SAMPLE.
These means no long narrative poems except in the Tell Me a Story category- sorry. However, most other styles and forms should be okay.
2. Rhyming poems should have proper meter and no forced rhyme.
3. Poems (despite the title) do not have to rhyme.
4. Poems need not be specifically "children's poems" although they must be child friendly and accessible. They should have some appeal for adults, since parents, grandparents, teachers and librarians may well be sharing this book.
5. Each poet may contribute a brief bio and photograph and/or book jacket which will be given a half page. (Sorry it's not a full page but you know... War and Peace...) You are most welcome to advertise other books or your (child friendly) website or blog. This is your chance to increase your writing "brand" range or just to highlight anything that is important to you.
6. No payment will be made for poems, but poets will have the right (not the obligation) to buy copies of the anthology at cost. All authors will get a PDF of the collection.
Now, HERE's that list of themes. It's a case of first in, first served. As the categories fill up, they'll be marked as "taken" with a title and/or poet's name. Unpopular categories will be replaced as we proceed. The categories may also be juggled around a bit as we go. (See Selection Process)
To claim a slot, send an email to Printscharmingbooks@gmail.com with Poem in the subject line. Tell me which theme you want. You may choose a slot in more than one theme, but not two slots in the same theme.
As slots are "taken" they will be filled in with titles/authors. If a slot just says "poem" or something similar it means I don't yet have the title. Poems marked with an asterisk are not yet to hand. If you have offered a poem but not yet sent it in, please let us have it sooner rather than later. If you wish to withdraw a poem, you may do so at any time until deadline.
Please choose carefully, as some themes overlap. For example, if you like writing about the sea, you could choose from fish/marine, seashore, islands, ships/boats and rain/water. Poems don't have to be about the subject directly... be as creative in approach as you like! If you have a poem that would fit in a category that's filled up, send it for "Uncategorised" which will be sorted to the best appropriate category with room.
01/12/14 - 353 poems IN
13 offered but not yet to hand
Ten or so that are placeholders that may be removed if other more suitable ones come in (these are tagged "PLACEHOLDER", so you are welcome to suggest an alternative.)
Deadline has been reached. December 7th 2014 is the cut-off time for subs and bios.
When you've finished choosing your slot(s), pop over to the splendid Australian Children's Poetry blog for another site supporting children's poetry and children's poets.
