Keepsakes is an anthology of stories for adults.
In the footsteps of Charms comes Keepsakes, an anthology of stories and poems written by more than fifty authors. The stories and poems are encapsulated in a bracket story; the tale of a family.
Lavender Garland was born in the year of the Gallipoli landing. She married Tom Merriwether and moved to the house called Keepsakes where she spent a long and happy married life until Tom died at the age of 94. Bereft, Lavender found some interest in life chivvying her daughter Primrose and her granddaughter Rosemary. Wilful Lily, Rosie's daughter, was her favourite along with Lily's daughter Briar.
With Lavender finally dead at the age of 100, Primrose comes to Keepsakes to sort things out. She is joined, in turn, by Rosie, Lily and Briar in a literary treasure hunt orchestrated by Lavender from beyond the grave.
Part family story, part ghost story, part anthology, Keepsakes is ultimately about the relationships between five very different women who happen to be related by blood and a family talent. It seeks to answer the question; how old must one be before one's mother stops trying to run one's life?
